By Terry Velvet Rouge in 1 Lady Bare and 3 Dream Bloom, review and swatches

Apr 15, 2015

I became intrigued by these after hearing the Beauty Professor's frequent mentions of the color Lady Bare (see her review and swatches of the entire line) and also the rave youtube review of the formula given by the Black Panties. I trust their opinions and was definitely not disappointed in this case.

L to R: 3 Dream Bloom, 1 Lady Bare
The formula is quite special. It is a liquid lipstick that reminds me of the Armani Lip Maestro and Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato but even better. Fully opaque with one swipe, it has an slight silicone-y feel initially that allows smooth and comfortable application. It is forgiving on dry lips unless they are truly flaky. It is not as heavy and slippy and therefore easier to apply neatly than the Armani or Shu Uemura. The applicator is also designed to promote ease of application: you use the tip to trace your lip line and then the side to fill them in. The formula dries down quickly leaving a satin-matte finish. It adheres very well to the lips without drying them out. I basically don't feel like I am wearing anything on my lips and at the same time I don't have to worry about it smearing all over the place. The lasting power is impressive and it can even last through light drinking or eating if the food is not too oily.

There aren't a lot of lip swatches of this formula on the internet so I thought I would contribute. 1 Lady Bare is a nude beige with a hint of peach and 3 Dream Bloom is a medium rosy pink. I am very happy with both of the colors I chose. I was initially concerned about Lady Bare because not all nudes look good with my complexion but this was surprisingly wearable, especially if it is accompanied by a healthy dose of blush to my cheeks. Dream Bloom is a very flattering pink that brightens up my complexion. It is bright without being too loud.
